Ferrets
Jones Animal Hospital provides veterinary care for ferrets including general wellness exams, dental care and spay and neuter. Our veterinarians recommend that you bring your ferret in for a checkup two or three times a year to ensure that they are in good health. We also recommend yearly vaccinations, as ferrets require annual inoculations against canine distemper, which is highly contagious and potentially fatal. If your ferret is outdoors for any length or time or frequently exposed to other pets that are, we also suggest that they receive a rabies vaccine.
At Jones Animal Hospital, our comprehensive wellness care for ferrets also includes a thorough dental exam. A ferret’s teeth are easily susceptible to breakage when playing, and it can cause excruciating pain and discomfort for your pet. Other common dental problems can be prevented by supplementing your ferret’s diet with specially formulated food that is designed to clean their teeth and gums.
