At Jones Animal Hospital Your Pet is Our Pet!

Ned Allen Jr, DVMNed Allen Jr, DVM

Dr. Allen has been a part of Jones Animal Hospital since moving to Bristol in 1987 from his first veterinary job in Chesapeake, Virginia. He graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984 after completing a receptor ship in small animal medicine and surgery at stage Road Animal Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but has a special interest in all types of surgery and ferrets. He enjoys interacting with all the clients who come in attached is patient and has many second in some third generation clients. When not at work he can be found running with his standard poodle Kitty, or on the water somewhere sailing, kayaking, or swimming he has spent the past 30 years raising a plethora of children and has enjoyed many in our cheering on various volleyball, baseball, football, and basketball players as well as band members. He lives with his wife, Karen, four dogs, four cats, three sugar gliders, one guinea pig, and to awesome kid in Bristol, Tennessee, and truly believes it is a “good place to live.”

Dorothy Kirby, DVMDorothy Kirby, DVM

Dr. Kirby is a 1985 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in animal science as well as her DVM. She has lived and worked in Abingdon and Bristol since graduation. She is married and has two sons. She has two miniature poodles, and enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, and her children’s sporting events.

Dee Dee Bodenhorst, DVMDee Dee Bodenhorst, DVM

Dr. Bodenhorst, known to many as Dr. B, grew up in Abingdon, Virginia. She attended Virginia Tech for both undergraduate and veterinary school, graduating in 2003. Following veterinary school, she completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Noah’s Animal Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She joined Jones animal hospital in January 2006. She has a special interests and abdominal ultrasonography. She currently resides in Abingdon with her husband Jeoff, her son Max, a Shih Tzu mix named Harry, and Bennie the cat. The Bodenhorst family is excited to welcome their second son in August 2013.

Kerri Gray, DVMKerri Gray, DVM

Dr. Gray is originally from Carroll County, Virginia and moved to the Tri-Cities shortly after college. She attended Virginia Tech for her undergraduate and veterinary degrees, graduating from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She lives with her husband, Dr. Anthony Gray, DVM and their two daughters, Sydney and Paisley. The family has forecast, Oscar, Zoe, Buford, and Carlos, one dog named Lucy, and a fish named Slimey. In her free time, Dr. Gray enjoys spending time with her family, especially on the lake and at Virginia Tech football games. Go Hokies!

Sarah Francis, DVM

Dr. Francis is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia but now she calls Bristol, Tennessee home. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Virginia Tech and is a 2008 graduate of Virginia-Maryland regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. After graduation, Dr. Francis worked for several years in Knoxville, Tennessee the Tri-Cities area in general small animal practice, shelter medicine, and emergency medicine. Her professional interests include small animal medicine and surgery, emergency medicine, and ophthalmology. When not helping pet owners at Jones animal hospital, she operates an in-home pet euthanasia service called Loving Hands Home Euthanasia (lovinghandshome.com) to help make the difficult time of euthanasia although easier for both pets and owners. Loving Hands provides peaceful and dignified in-home end-of-life care for dogs and cats in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. She and her husband, James, are the proud parents of one black standard poodle named Rhett. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys knitting, crocheting, reading, old-time/bluegrass music, and traditional Appalachian cultures and crafts.
